Faces Behind OTIS…
John C. Carey, MD, MPH, is a professor & vice chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah. In March, his distinguished career was recognized with the prestigious David Smith Award for Excellence in Genetics and Birth Defects Education. He was presented the award at the American College of Medical Genetics Meeting held in Phoenix, AZ.
Dr. Carey has a long history with OTIS as he founded
MotherToBaby UT also known as the Pregnancy Risk Line (PRL), in 1984. He currently serves as the service’s Medical Advisor.
In his spare time, Dr. Carey volunteers as a medical and scientific advisor for several genetic support groups, including the Support Organization For Trisomy 18, 13 and Related Disorders (SOFT). To learn more about Dr. Carey, please click here.
